(Le Mars) — Several members of the Wasmer Post #241 American Legion had gathered yesterday for a special signing ceremony, as Le Mars Mayor Dick Kirchoff praised the efforts of the veteran organization. Kirchoff, a veteran himself, and member of the local American Legion, acknowledged the 100th
anniversary of the nation’s American Legion organization, with the signing of a proclamation.

Wasmer Post #241 Honored At State Convention
(Le Mars) — Speaking about the local legion, the organization was recently the recipient of two awards during the state’s American Legion convention.
Jim Rolfes accepted the awards on behalf of the Wasmer Post. He says the Le Mars legion was recognized for its efforts relating to children and youth programs.

Rolfes says consideration of the awards also was directed to the Wasmer post because of its tours and explanation of the Veterans Park to local school children, as well as the Gehlen Veteran’s Day program.
