Gehlen Catholic opens center

Memberships for Le Mars area residents are being offered for the Linda Freking-Bouma Wellness Center at Gehlen Catholic School. 

 

 

The Le Mars Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors joined Don Bouma and his family and Gehlen Catholic School President Rev. Kevin Richter for a ribbon cutting of the Wellness Center Thursday, February 3, 2011.  The Boumas provided the naming gift for the school and community wellness center. The ceremony and tour were part of Catholic Schools' Week at Gehlen Catholic which has an enrollment of about 450 students.

Gehlen Catholic School's Endowment Fund has received the largest gift in its history.

The Reverend Kevin Richter, Gehlen Catholic Board President, announced the donation during a Catholic Schools' week Le Mars Area Chamber of Commerce coffee.

There was applause after the Reverend Richter announced the Jim and Joan Sitzmann insurance gift of over one-half million dollars to the endowment fund.

On behalf of the family, Jim Sitzmann Junior explained their parents' priority.

 Rev. Richter also noted Jim Sitzmann Senior and Joan had regularly contributed to help with Gehlen Catholic tuition assistance and the Endowment Fund.
