Holiday Decorating Tips

(Sioux Center) -- The tree is up and the halls have been decked with your normal

decor, but you're not quite satisfied with the way your home looks for your

upcoming holiday gathering.  Over the next few days Shirley Vos, owner of her

own design business "Inside Out" and design guru at Vander Berg Furniture in

Sioux Center, will share some last minute holiday decorating ideas with us.

What do people see first when they come to your home to celebrate?  The door.  Shirley suggests getting a little more creative this year.

As you consider what style wreaths for the door and finishes touches on you

hoiday decor, Shirley tells us that trends this holiday season are going away

design guru at Vander Berg Furniture in Sioux Center, says that there's one sure

fire way to add ambience to your home for the holidays....lights.

A way to incorporate lights that will make people feel welcome as soon as they

come in is by using them in the foyer.  Shirley suggests using mirrors to

amplify the glow.

Another suggestion for adding light is by placing battery operated lights in

jars or wine bottles and grouping them together to form a focal point.  Add some

garland around the base to complete the look.  A hint on getting a hole in the

wine bottle big enough to place the light...Shirly says to use a masonry bit to

drill the hole.
