Banks and Farrer Selected As New Fair Royalty

(Le Mars) -- Annabelle Banks of Westfield and Grady Farrer of Hinton were selected as the new Plymouth County Fair Queen and King.  17 women competed for the title of fair queen along with seven men tried for the king title.  Annabelle is the daughter of Chad and Robyn Banks, and Grady is the son of Steve and Candice Farrer.

 


Fair Board Taps McNaughton and Bietelspacher For Fair Hall of Fame

(Le Mars) -- Just prior to the crowning of the new Plymouth County Fair Royalty, the fair board honored the newest members of the Plymouth County Fair Hall of Fame.  Fair Board president Tony Schroeder awarded the honor to Janet McNaughton of Kingsley, Iowa, and to Donal Bietelspacher of Brunsville, Iowa.

Janet is a longtime volunteer of the fair.  She helps maintain the fair's flower beds, as well as assists with the trophys.  Her late husband, Raynard, was a board member for many years.   Bietelspacher helped create and organize the Grant Little Giants 4-H club, He has been a 4-H leader, and served on the fair board with the swine committee. Donald Bietelspacher also helped his six children with their 4-H careers.

 


First Day Fair Attendance Slightly Higher Than Last Year

(Le Mars) -- The brief rain shower from last evening didn't keep the crowds away from attending the first day of the fair.  Fair officials report the first day's attendance was 15,400 which is just a hundred people more than last year's first day attendance.
