A Christmas Carol in Cherokee this Weekend
(CHEROKEE) -- With a cast of 63 actors and actresses playing over 100 roles and 120
different costumes, Cherokee Community Theater, in Collaboration with Cherokee Community
Schools, isn't messing around with their presentation of "A Christmas Carol" this weekend.
Director Andrew Linn says the show is the musical version, with songs written by Alan
"A Christmas Carol: The Musical" opened last Friday and continues this Thursday through
Sunday at the Cherokee Community Center.
In addition to the huge cast, there is also a full orchestra for the production, a large
back stage crew and a group has been hired out of Las Vegas to make sure the ghosts are so
authentic, they fly!
The cast has been rehearsing since early September, and Linn says the fact that they're all
so good made this show easier to tackle than it would have been otherwise.
80 people auditioned for this show, including young and old. In fact, there are families
that have 3 or more members in this show.
Linn has been on the board for 20 years, and this is the biggest show he's seen done in
Cherokee. He added that the key to putting a show this big together in a small community
has been surrounding himself with talented co-directors that know their stuff including: a
vocal director, a band director, orchestra conductor and choreographer.
"A Christmas Carol: The Musical" continues this weekend in Cherokee with performances
Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm; a Saturday matinee at 2pm and a 6pm Sunday
