Le Mars Children Listen To IPTV's Dan Wardell
(Le Mars) -- When you think of children's programming hosts, you may think back a couple generations to Bob Keeshan as Captain Kangeroo, or perhaps locally, Jim Henry as Canyon Kid, Duane Elliot with the Floppy Show, Dave Dedrick as Captain 11, or even Tim Poppens. But today's children watch Dan Wardell on Iowa Public Television. The Le Mars Public Library played host today to two children's seminars featuring Wardell of the Iowa Public Television Kid's Club. Through out the summer, Wardell will criss-cross the state and visit 67 different communities, and their public libraries. His message to children may actually surprise people.
The Iowa Public Television host says some of the more popular children's programming on television started as story books.
Wardell started with Iowa Public Television in 1998 as a college intern. He says children remember him well after they have passed their childhood days.
Wardell says he reminds the children to eat healthy snacks, wash their hands, and turn out the lights to conserve energy. He says generally the children do heed his advice.
The Iowa Public Television Children's Show host is scheduled to visit the Sioux Center and Little Rock public libraries Tuesday afternoon.
