Iowa State Fair About To Begin

(Des Moines) -- The Iowa State Fair begins its eleven day run on Thursday, August 8th at Des Moines and fair manager Gary Slater is expecting another successful fair, especially if the weather stays nice.

Slater says the state fair is offering a variety of entertainment that will appeal to nearly everyone, both at the grandstand and at the various free stages.  He says the Budweiser Stage has been moved to accommodate more people, and it will feature several bands from the classic rock era.

Of course a major attraction featured in the Agriculture Building is the traditional butter cow sculpture.  But this year, Bessy the butter cow, has some company.
