Mike Wells Honored

 

THE C-E-O OF A SIOUXLAND COMPANY CELEBRATING ITS 100TH ANNIVERSARY IS THE SIOUXLAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE'S ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR.

MIKE WELLS OF WELLS ENTERPRISES RECEIVED THE W. EDWARDS DEMING BUSINESS LEADERSHIP AND ENTREPRENEURIAL EXCELLENCE AWARD AT THE SIOUXLAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE'S ANNUAL DINNER.

WELLS, HEADQUARTERED IN LE MARS AND BEST KNOWN FOR ITS BLUE BUNNY ICE CREAM,  HAS SERVED SIOUXLAND FOR A HUNDRED YEARS.

LONG TIME CHAMBER MEMBER AND SIOUXLAND HISTORIAN BEV HINDS WAS NAMED THE CHAMBER AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR.

HINDS HAS BEEN AN AMBASSADOR FOR 37 YEARS.

DORIS DAY, THE WIDOW OF COLONEL BUD DAY, MADE A SPECIAL APPEARANCE AS HER LATE HUSBAND WAS HONORED AT THE EVENT BY BOTH THE CHAMBER AND THE DINNER'S KEYNOTE SPEAKER, ECONOMIST BEN STEIN.

FORMER CHAMBER PRESIDENT AND CURRENT IOWA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR DEBI DURHAM WAS ALSO HONORED FOR HER WORK, INCLUDING HELPING LAND THE ONE-POINT-SEVEN BILLION DOLLAR C-F INDUSTRIES EXPANSION PROJECT.

RENE BEAULIEU OF THOMPSON ELECTRIC WAS INTRODUCED AS THE NEW CHAIRPERSON OF THE CHAMBER BOARD OF DIRECTORS, SUCCEEDING POWELL BROADCASTINGS DENNIS BULLOCK.
