Political Parties Prepare For Caucus

(Le Mars) -- Come Tuesday, the political process for Iowa begins as counties across the state host caucus events.  Plymouth County caucuses will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Plymouth county Democrats will hold only one caucus for the county and it will be located at the Le Mars Community High School Commons.  As for the Republican caucuses, there will be six locations.  Le Mars voters including precincts 11, 12, and 13 can participate at the American Bank Conference Room in Le Mars.  The American Bank will also serve as the host site for voters living in Struble, Brunsville, and Craig, as well as, Elgin, America, Washington, Johnson, Grant, and Preston townships.  The Akron Security National Bank will hold the caucus for the cities of Akron, and Westfield.  Portland, Sioux, and Westfield township voters will also gather at the Security National Bank in Akron.  The Hinton Community Center will serve as the caucus site for republican voters living in Hinton, as well as Hungerford, Lincoln, Hancock, and Perry townships.  The Kissinger Community Center in Merrill will be the location for republican voters wanting to participate in the caucus process, as well as those living in Liberty, Stanton, and Plymouth townships.  The Kingsley Community Center will host the caucus for Kingsley voters and those living in Union, and Elkhorn townships.  The other caucus site is the Remsen Public Library meeting room.  Voters from Remsen and Oyens along with those from Fredonia, Marion, Garfield, Meadow, Henry, and Remsen townships.  Don Kass serves as the co-chair of the Plymouth County Republican party.  He explains a caucus is the grassroots effort of formulating ideas into party platforms, and selecting delegates.
