Gehlen Students Travel To Honduras

(Le Mars) -- 27 Gehlen students and chaperones left Tuesday afternoon with the destination of Honduras.  The group, split nearly in half with the same number of boys to girls, will be living in the Central American nation for the next ten days.  Carolyn Bickford is one of the coordinators of the missionary program.  She says in the past Gehlen has assisted with some water projects, bringing fresh water  to low-income villages.  This year the focus is on building two homes.

Bickford says in order to construct the homes, materials had to be purchased in the U-S and then shipped to Honduras.

The mission trip coordinator says each student had to finance their own way, although fund raisers did take place to help finance the materials needed to build the homes.
