Pork Producers Hold Banquet

(Le Mars) -- Nearly 250 people attended the Plymouth County Pork Producers Banquet, Saturday evening at the Le Mars Convention Center.  Hanna Kessenich, daughter of Mark and Suzie Kessenich was selected as the 2014 Plymouth County Pork Queen.  There will be two Little Miss Pigtails representing Plymouth County this year.  Elizabeth Hitchler, daughter of Jim and Kara Hitchler will share the responsibilities with Izabella Tomlinson, daughter of Mandy Tentinger.  Bill Tentinger, a past president of the Iowa Pork Producers Association, and a pork producer from Le Mars, was presented with a special recognition certificate for his Expertise of the Pork Industry. In addition to the certificate, Tentinger was given a small piggy bank with 2 cents printed on the side.  Tentinger was featured on a local television station this past week discussing a disease that has hit the pork industry, causing many piglets to die from severe diarrhea. Comedian Roger Radley, of Wisconsin, entertained the group talking about how things have changed through the years.
