(#1-4A) Le Mars 4, Estherville/Lincoln Central 0          (RECORD: 29-and-0 / 12-and-0)

(#2-1A) Akron-Westfield 12, Gehlen Catholic 2  --  6 innings       (RECORD: 11-and-16 / 7-and-11)

(ESTHERVILLE) -- Top-rated (4A) Le Mars won their school-record 29th win of the season and in so doing wrapped up the Lakes Conference title with two games to play in the regular season, winning 4-0 over Estherville/Lincoln Central Monday night in Estherville.  The Lady Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run single by Mary Kate Eckstaine and a RBI double by Molly Renken.  Holly Schneider's sacrifice fly in the sixth completed the scoring.  The rest of the night belonged to senior pitcher Molly Renken.  A night before she celebrates her 19th birthday, Renken struck out eleven and threw her 17th shut out of the season while improving to 23-and-0.  A fourth inning single to center by Emily Kirchner was the only hit for E-L-C.  Le Mars improves to 29-and-0 for the season and 12-and-0 in the Lakes Conference.  The Lady Bulldogs host Emmetsburg Wednesday and Spencer next Monday to close out the regular season.

(LE MARS) -- Kayla Tindall checked Gehlen Catholic to three hits in four innings and combined with Dana Hedlund on a six-hitter as number-two (1A) Akron-Westfield beat Gehlen Catholic 12-2 in six innings Monday night at the Riverview Complex.  The victory wraps up the War Eagle Conference title for the Westerners, who go to 18-and-0 in the conference and 29-and-2 for the season.  Kourtney Hedlund led a ten-hit attack with three hits and two RBI's.  Bailey Davis had two hits and two RBI's.  Shannon Smith had two hits for Gehlen.  Abigail Krienert drove in both Gehlen runs in the sixth to avoid a shutout.  The Lady Jays fall to 11-and-16 for the season and 7-and-11 in the War Eagle.

(#6-3A) Le Mars 11, Estherville/Lincoln Central 10          (RECORD: 20-and-3 / 11-and-1)

Gehlen Catholic 9, Akron-Westfield 6           (RECORD: 10-and-11 / 8-and-9)

(ESTHERVILLE) --The sixth-rated (3A) Le Mars Bulldogs rallied with five runs in the sixth inning to pull out an 11-10 Lakes Conference road victory over Estherville/Lincoln Central Monday night.  The win clinched at least a share of the Lakes Conference title and the Bulldogs can wrap up their third straight conference championship at home Wednesday against Emmetsburg.  Jacob Lamoreux and Dayton Rand paced a nine-hit attack with two hits each.  Rand drove in three runs.  Caleb Cline, Jacob Lamoreux and Colan Borchers pitched for Le Mars.  Lamoreux earned the win and Borchers got a save.  The Bulldogs are 20-and-3 for the season and 11-and-1 in Lakes Conference play.

(LE MARS) -- Gehlen Catholic won their fourth straight game, 9-6 over Akron-Westfield Monday night to improve to 10-and-11 for the season and 8-and-9 in the War Eagle Conference.  A four-run fourth inning helped the Jays break a 3-3 tie after the first three innings.  Blake Wiltgen won his first game of the season after an 0-and-6 start, scattering seven hits through five innings with five walks and five strike outs.  Michael Whitehead finished the final two innings to earn a save, striking out four batters.  Mitchell Flack led the offense with a pair of doubles among his three hits and three RBI's.  Austin Herbst had two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs.

(REMSEN) -- Miranda Staab and Katie Arens combined to no-hit Gehlen Catholic as number-eight Remsen St. Mary's beat the Lady Jays 11-1 in six innings Wednesday in a War Eagle Conference softball game at Remsen.  The Hawks tagged Jill Kessenich and Brittany Krienert for eleven hits with Mackenzie Ricke, Paige Harpenau, Miranda Staab, and Alyssa Trejo collecting two hits each.  Staab and Trejo drove in three runs apiece.  St. Mary's scored seven runs in the third inning to break the game open early and brought an end to the contest with a run in the bottom of the sixth for a ten-run rule verdict.  Bailey Wiltgen's RBI ground out in the fourth inning provided Gehlen's lone run to avoid the shutout.  Gehlen ends the regular season at 11-and-17 and 7-and-12 in the War Eagle Conference.  Gehlen hosts River Valley Monday in the 1A Regional opener at the Riverview Complex starting at 7 p.m.  Coverage on KLEM begins at 6:50.  Remsen St. Mary's takes a 24-and-6 season mark into the 1A Regionals next week and finished in second place in the War Eagle Conference race at 17-and-3.  The Hawks have a first round bye and open tournament play next Wednesday at home.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton 12, (#5-3A) Le Mars 4            (RECORD: 20-and-4)

(LE MARS) -- Unrated Sergeant Bluff-Luton took advantage of nine errors to score eleven unearned runs and the Warriors beat number-five Le Mars 12-4 Saturday night at the Bulldog Sports Complex.  Le Mars committed five errors in the first two innings to allow the Warriors to jump out to a 6-1 lead.  Jacob Lamoreux had a RBI single in the fourth followed by a two-run hit by Hunter Rowe to pull the Bulldogs to within 7-4.  But four more errors in the fifth led to five more runs for S-B-L and the game was never in doubt again.  Sergeant Bluff-Luton roughed up Le Mars ace Colan Borchers for ten hits and twelve runs, although only one of the runs was earned.  Matt Ellefson and Jacob Lamoreux had two hits each to lead a seven-hit attack for Le Mars.  The Bulldogs fall to 20-and-4 for the season and return to Lakes Conference action Monday night at home against Spencer.

Le Mars girls Junior All-Stars finished 2-and-1 in the Spirit Lake tournament.  Le Mars lost 6-5 to Sergeant Bluff  ...  then won 5-4 over Denison ... and beat Spirit Lake 12-2.

Le Mars girls Major All-Stars finished 3-and-1 in the Spirit Lake tournament.  Le Mars beat SWAG 17-4  ... then lost 9-7 to Crush  ... won 13-1 over Okoboji and finished with a 9-6 win over Emmetsburg to finish in second place.
