FRIDAY RESULTS – September 17

(high school football)

(BURNSIDE) -- Gehlen scored on every possession of the first half while steamrolling to a 52-0 lead by halftime as the Jays won to their third game in a row, 70-0 over Southeast Webster-Grand Friday night in non-district football at Burnside.  Standout running back Trevor Bouma played for the first time this season and scored on runs of 25, 72 and 50 yards.  Quarterback Taylor Wurth scored on runs of 19 and 40 yards and he threw a 30-yard scoring pass to Eric Loutsch on the Jays lone pass of the night.  Loutsch also returned an interception 20 yards for a first half touchdown.  Jordan Langel raced 50 yards for his first touchdown of the season.  The backup unit played much of the second half and they added three more scores on a 63-yard run by Zach Wurth and a one-yard and 31-yard run by freshman Aaron Jentz.  Gehlen had over 500 yards of offense in the game, including 475 yards rushing.  The Jays defense held the Eagles to a plus one yard offensive total.  Gehlen improved to 3-and-1 for the season and begin district play next Friday at home against West Sioux.

(LE MARS) -- Senior Judd Herzberg scored both touchdowns and ran for 174 yards to lead Le Mars to a 14-0 homecoming victory over the Spencer Tigers Friday night at Jim Lorenzen Field.  Hunter Rohde added 110 yards as the Bulldogs rushed for 352 yards in a 404 yard offensive performance.  Six turnovers by Le Mars, however, kept the Tigers in it to the end.  The win improves Le Mars to 3-and-1 for the season and 2-and-0 in District 2 play.  The Bulldogs travel to Rock Valley/Boyden-Hull next Friday night.  The game will be carried on KLEM.
