TUESDAY RESULTS - November 25

(high school basketball)

HINTON -- Kailey Burke keyed an 8-2 run over the final 2:21 of the game to help Hinton break away from a 39-all tie and post a 47-41 opening night girls basketball win over Le Mars Tuesday night in Hinton.  Burke, who finished with a game-high 18 points for the Blackhawks, scored the first four points of a 6-0 run after Kassidy Rieken's two free throws tied the game for Le Mars.  Rieken finished with 12 points to lead Le Mars in scoring with Janessa Milbrodt dropping in a career-high 10.  Abby Cook had 10 for Hinton and Tori Clausen added 9.  Holly Schneider and Katrina Engebretson had eight each for the Lady Bulldogs.  Le Mars travels to Unity Christian next Tuesday for a girl/boy doubleheader.  Hinton is off until December 6th when the Blackhawks host Woodbury Central in a girl/boy doubleheader.

HAWARDEN -- Taylor Rodenburgh poured in 15 points for West Sioux to lead the Falcons to an opening night, 48-23 win over Gehlen Catholic Tuesday in Hawarden.  The Lady Jays led 4-3 three minutes into the game but went scoreless over the next nine minutes to fall behind 20-4 and never recovered.  Callie Schmidt added 8 points for West Sioux and Amanda Mace had 7.  Morgan Whitehead led Gehlen with 9 points and 7 rebounds.  Carli Murphy had 6 for the Lady Jays.  Gehlen Catholic returns to action next Tuesday in a girl/boy doubleheader at Remsen-Union.
