FRIDAY RESULTS - September 21

(high school football)

(LE MARS) -- The Le Mars Bulldogs spotted Spencer a 17-0 lead before rallying for a 28-24 homecoming victory Friday night at Jim Lorenzen Field.  Levi TeBrink led the comeback, throwing for a career-high 229 yards and three touchdowns.  Travis Kinney scored on a two-yard run  in the second quarter to begin a run of 21 unaswered points by the Bulldogs.  TeBrink fired an 11-yard scoring pass to Gabe Rahn to narrow the Tigers lead to 17-14 by halftime.  Another Te-Brink-to-Rahn scoring strike from 17 yards away put Le Mars in front 21-17 in the third quarter.  Matt Finneran's second touchdown run of the night put Spencer back in front 24-21 late in the third quarter.  TeBrink hit Chris Hatting with a six-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter to lift Le Mars to victory.  Rahn caught seven passes for 139 yards for the Bulldogs.  Finneran led a solid Spencer ground attack that chewed up 285 yards with 122 yards while Blake Altenhofen had 116 yards.  Le Mars improves to 4-and-1 for the season and 2-and-1 in district play going into next week's game at Denison-Schleswig.

(ARMSTRONG) -- Blake Wiltgen threw five touchdown passes and connected on 20-of-32 passes for 253 yards to lead Gehlen Catholic to their first win of the season, 37-7 over North Union Friday night at Armstrong.  Michael Whitehead was the favorite Wiltgen target, catching three TD passes and finishing with nine catches for 93 yards.  Wiltgen also threw scoring passes to Solomon Freking and Colton Kneip.  Fabio Rivera added a 25-yard field goal to close out a 23-0 first half lead for Gehlen.  Cody Runksmeier scored on a one yard run for North Union with 51-seconds to play to avoid the shutout.  Gehlen Catholic comes home next Friday to celebrate homecoming against Okoboji sporting a 1-and-4 record and a 1-and-2 district mark.
