(LE MARS) -- Number-six Bishop Heelan opted not to kick a potential game-tying field goal and instead went for the win from one-yard away with 59 seconds to play and the gamble paid off as Michael Malloy scored the go-ahead touchdown to give the Crusaders a 17-13 win over Le Mars to side-step an upset Friday night at Jim Lorenzen Field.  The victory gave Heelan their fourth straight district title.  Tyler Kommes staked Le Mars to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter when he returned an interception 25 yards for a score.  A Paul Jacobson-to-Pete Fitzsimmons TD pass tied the score at 7-all in the second quarter and Heelan went ahead on Zach Maxey's 26 yard field goal just before halftime.  Le Mars regained the lead in the third quarter and a Kyan Ludwig-to-Ben Rahn TD pass from 21 yards away.  Le Mars falls to 5-and-3 for the season and 4-and-2 in the district.  The Bulldogs host Denison-Schleswig next Friday in their regular season finale.

(MARCUS) -- Trevor Bouma ran for four first half touchdowns and Taylor Wurth threw a pair of TD passes to lead Gehlen to a 54-0 halftime lead and an eventual 67-21 District 1 victory over Marcus/Meriden-Cleghorn Friday night in Marcus.  The victory combined with other results in the district gave Gehlen their second straight district title.  Jordan Langel had touchdown runs of 19 and 58 yards for the Jays and Michael Whitehead intercepted a pass for a score and hauled in a TD pass from freshman Blake Wiltgen in the fourth quarter.  Alec Mousel and Eric Loutsch caught touchdown passes from Taylor Wurth in the first half.  Tanner Utesch ran for a touchdown and threw for two scores for M-M-C.  Gehlen improves to 7-and-1 for the season and 4-and-0 in district play.  The Jays close out the regular season at Akron-Westfield next Friday night.
