LeMars Police Make Arrest on Golf Damage

(LeMars) -- LeMars Police investigators have arrested one 18 year old male and charges are pending on three juvenile males for several burglary and criminal mischief incidents that started at the Willow Creek Golf Course in LeMars.

Bill Dalton Named School Employee of the Month

(LeMars) -- LeMars Community School District has named their employee of the month. Bill Dalton, teaches Industrial Technology for 15 years. The nomination form says Bill spends a lot of his time outside the school day helping students with their technology needs. He works on the school web site and he also helps other teachers with technology questions. Bill Dalton would be an excellent employee of the month. LeRoy Wickers submitted the nomination for Bill Dalton. Congratulations to Bill Dalton for being named this month's employee of the month at the LeMars Community School District.

(LeMars) -- Nearly 250 third and fourth grade students from LeMars Community, Gehlen Catholic, Remsen-Union and Remsen St. Mary's participated in an Ag in the Classroom field tour. The students toured four different Plymouth County farms that featured beef, swine, sheep and dairy. Darcy Reuter teaches third grade at Kleckholm Elementary. She believes it is important to include agriculture as part of the curriculm of the young students. Reuter says the students retain a lot of the information shared by the farmers.

Shirley Schroeder along with her husband Tony have served as hosts for the tour for several years. Schroeder says her family enjoys visiting with the students about their livihood.

After the farm tour, the students enjoyed a bar-b-que picnic, complete with grilled hamburgers at the Cleveland Park.  The LeMars Chamber of Commerce Ag. Committee, along with the Plymouth County Farm Bureau sponsors the annual event .

(LeMars) -- The Plymouth County chapter of Pheasants Forever recently had a parcel of land donated to the local organization. Now, that land will be open to the general public as a hunting location. The estate of Herb and Ilene Kohler donated the 11.2 acres located north of Remsen. Plymouth County Pheasants Forever, president, Bob Puetz (Pitts) says the local chapter and the Plymouth County Conservation office will maintain the property.

Puetz says all sportsmen are welcomed to hunt on the grounds.
