(AKRON) -- An event that's focused around family fun and creativity that raises money for projects that benefit Akron and area residents... that's the goal of the Akron Scarecrow Festival being held this Saturday. Organizer Sue Higman says that after 11 years of planning this fundraiser, it has grown into an anticipated event for the community and the vendors. This year 50 Scarecrows will be on display and Higman says they're not your typical scarecrows.

In addition to scarecrows there are plenty of kids games and activities, food, arts and crafts vendors, and a chainsaw artist.  The chainsaw art is auctioned off at the same time as the scarecrows.  Events start at 10am with scarecrow judging and the auction starts at 2pm. Proceeds for the event go to the Federated Womens Club, a Friendship and Service Club, that then turns around and re-invests the money into Akron.
